An abscess is an accumulation of puss in
the tissues as a result of infection.
Characterised by inflammation and painful
swelling, it may occur in various parts of
the body, such as the skin, the eye lid
(sty) and the middle ear.
Near all absceses respond to treatment with
ANTIBIOTICS, others require surgical removal.
